Oakland Campus Sites

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital:   As one of the nation’s top hospitals specializing in women, Magee combines a wealth of specialty services with a traditional focus on gynecologic and obstetric services.  Nearly 10,000 babies are born at Magee each year, accounting for 45 percent of all births in Allegheny County. The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the largest in Pennsylvania and one of the largest in the country, treats more than 1,900 seriously or critically ill babies each year. Serving as the region’s leading tertiary care provider for women’s health, the hospital has 363 beds, 22 LDR beds, and 20 ICU beds (6 specifically for obstetrical patients.  There are 14 surgical ORs and 5 dedicated LDR ORs.  The hospital also houses several community ob/gyn offices and subspecialty care faculty offices.

Additional UPMC-Affiliated Training Sites*

  • UPMC Passavant:  Located 10 miles north of Magee/Oakland campus, UPMC Passavant is a 400-bed tertiary care hospital that has staff across 22 specialties.  The Gynecologic Oncology and Urogynecology divisions have OR cases and busy outpatient offices that supplement resident training in these subspecialties.
  • UPMC Passavant–Cranberry:  Located 20 miles north of the Magee Oakland campus, UPMC Passavant–Cranberry is a small 35-bed hospital with four operating rooms. Urogynecology, gynecologic oncology, and MIGS have busy OR days that provide residents with a community hospital experience.
  • UPMC Northwest: UPMC Northwest is a 126-bed community hospital 100 miles north of the Magee Oakland campus.  The hospital provides full obstetric and gynecology care with departmental faculty.  Residents have the opportunity to rotate during their third year working with this community group which offers the experience of a busy general ob/gyn in rural community practice.
  • UPMC Hamot:  UPMC Hamot is a 423-bed tertiary care facility and Level II trauma center located 2 hours north of the Magee Oakland campus.  Through the newly formed Magee-Womens, UPMC Hamot, subspecialty faculty in urogynecology, and gynecologic oncology provide inpatient surgical services and ambulatory care to the greater Erie community.  Residents can elect to join faculty at this practice location during elective and/or research time gaining a greater appreciation for the importance of specialized, outreach care.  This year we added a UPMC Hamot rotation that encompasses clinical training with our subspecialty faculty and generalist faculty during their second year of training.
