Our Culture

Alexander B. Olawaiye, M.D.

Professor & Vice Chair for Diversity & Inclusion
Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

“As a department, we are deeply committed to cultivating a residency community where every individual feels seen, valued, and empowered to thrive. Our strength comes from the diversity of our residents’ identities, lived experiences, and perspectives, which enrich our learning environment and elevate the care we provide to the patients we serve. We strive to foster a culture of belonging—one that encourages curiosity, humility, and mutual respect, and one where inclusive excellence is not an aspiration but a daily practice. Whether you join us from near or far, know that you will be welcomed, supported, and celebrated as an essential part of our mission to advance equity in obstetrics and gynecology.”  Alex Olawaiye
