Dr. Donnellan is a busy gynecologic surgeon with a strong commitment to patient care and surgical training. She has devoted her career to improving women’s health through the practice of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and the education of trainees in this important surgical modality. Dr. Donnellan has developed and refined the laparoscopic simulation curriculum in the OB/GYN residency program at Magee and most recently has studied the addition of coaching and video review to enhance simulation training. She is also passionate about improving trainee feedback and has pioneered an online application to capture resident feedback as a means for improved learning and tracking competency.
In addition to surgical education, Dr. Donnellan plays an active role in clinical research. She has investigated patient perspectives on surgical decision-making, occult risk of leiomyosarcoma with fibroids and vaginal cuff dehiscence. She has also established a large prospective registry of endometriosis tissue and collaborates with MWRI investigators regarding the role of the immune system in the pathophysiology of this common and often debilitating disease.
